Breadth piece

  1. I love the ethereal quality of this. It looks surreal like Georgia O'Keeffe. http://www.theartstory.org/artist-okeeffe-georgia.htm

  2. This only works as a concentration if you add the elements of man vs nature. I will accept it as a breadth piece but it won't score as well with all of the negative space. We could crop it or add the man made elements in the water (like indicating the things that are really going on under water like you talked about when you were brainstorming) and I think it would be the perfect piece for that. It could be the beginning piece and explain what is happening slowly with the next 11 pieces. The contrast would be strong with the lovely above ground scenery (but then would that make sense that the trash would actually threaten the beauty?)
If you are not sure, you can crop it and turn this in as a breadth and keep the idea on the back burner.
Your other piece with the man and buildings will be stronger if you add more clear elements like the vines (unless it is a slow evolution of the nature vs man which you will only be able to tell if you put them all together on a concentration page (by Friday).
Good work, be sure to look at the figure ground info I sent.
